     St .JOSEPH'S COLLEGE FOR WOMEN (A)                                               VISAKHAPATNAM                                      DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS                                           FOUNDERS FIESTA 2K24 On the occasion of WORLD ENTREPRENEURS’ DAY, Department of ECONOMICS organised Founders Fiesta 2k24, an intercollegiate fest on 22 nd of August 2024. Around 55 students (42 from other colleges and 13 students from our college SJC) have enthusiastically participated in the event. A total of 5 competitions were conducted namely “INNOVATE IN INK” (essay writing), “JUST A MINUTE” (extempore), “CREATIVE POSTER CHALLENGE” (poster making), “ENTREPRENEURIAL IQ TEST” (quiz), and “VENTURE VOYAGE” (Entrepreneurial Treasure Hunt).  The event began with an INAUGURAL session at 10:30am.                                                 Guest Lecture The Department of Economics arranged a Guest Lecture on the topic of Mental Health Awareness for the First Degree (All Sciences) on 27th January 2024. 101 students have participated. The Speaker is Mantri Sai Vamsi, State Psychologist, M. Power ABET. He has spoken on what is meant by Mental health. Importance of Mental Health. In youth mental health is more important as it is affecting their physical health. He has advised our students how to face the challenges in their careers and the sources available to get help.

                                                         Workshop On 29 th November 2023, the Department of Economics conducted a workshop on Gender Bias for III B.Sc( MECS)/B.A(EEP) students .40 students have participated. Vasavya Mahila Mandali Miss. Madhavi, President of V.M.M. introduced the importance of gender equality in Indian Society. She discussed the nature and intensity of gender bias in our society. In the workshop, she narrated practical experiences as a counselor in the Mahila Mandali. Interacted with our students and asked them to answer the questions raised in the workshop. Finally, she advised our students on how to face the challenges in day-to-day life.

                                                        FIELD TRIP  Department of Economics has organized an educational and motivational trip to  the Naval Dockyard on 6/01/2024.
